WEEK SIX – Homework

Please go to http://www.sccu.edu/faculty/R_Harris/evalu8it.htm . Mr. Harris’ site was last updated in 1997. However, the information on evaluating web pages is as valid now as it was in 1997.

The first part of tonight’s assignment is to go to his site and read his article on Evaluating Web Pages. Then tell me in a paragraph or two what you learned.

The second part of tonight’s assignment is to locate two web pages:

1. One page which totally fails to live up to the standards of a “good” site.

2. One page that passes all the tests.

This part of the homework does not have to be handed in, it is for your own knowledge. Become familiar with evaluating web pages. Go through some of the sites used as examples illustrating evaluation criteria on: http://www2.widener.edu/Wolfgram-Memorial-Library/webevaluation/examples.htm.

Then examine some truly Bogus and Questionable Sites at: http://www.ualberta.ca/~rreichar/bogus.htm.
